Box Score HICKORY, N.C.- The Newberry College baseball team tallied a big win tonight against the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University winning 3-1, in the first game of three in the South Atlantic Conference matchup.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jacob Bass (North Augusta, S.C.) scored one run and drove in one while going 1-for-2 at the plate. Jeff Sneed (Cumming, Ga.) and Trejon Smith (Fredricksburg, Va.) scored one run each while JoJo Bradley (Spartanburg, S.C.) drove in one.
- Daniel Nations (Central, S.C.) logged six full innings on the mound, tallying five strikeouts while giving up one run and five hits. Danton Hyman (Prosperity, S.C.) threw three full innings on the mound, giving up one run and tallying one strikeout. Nations improved to 4-0 on the season taking the win while Hyman tallied his first save of the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The game was locked at 0-0 until the fourth inning when the Bears' Colby Dishmond scored on Zack Shoemaker's single to center field taking the 1-0 lead.
Smith put the Wolves' first run on the board off a single to right field from Bass in the top of the sixth. Newberry then took the lead when Sneed was pushed home after Kosch reached first on a fielder's choice.
Newberry sealed its win in the ninth when Bass scored the Wolves' last run on Bradley's single up the middle.

The Wolves are back at the Moretz Sports-Athletic Complex tomorrow for a doubleheader against the Bears with a start time of 1 p.m.
