HICKORY, N.C.- The Newberry College women's basketball team looks to sweep Lenoir-Rhyne for the regular season. The Wolves go into this game after previously beating the Bears 75-69, this season.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE WOLVES
A 25-point game from Nicola Handreck helped the team defeat Lincoln Memorial 80-71 in overtime, on Saturday afternoon.
At the half, Samantha Creed led the team in points with nine followed by Hannah Lepaio with seven. Kirsten Dunsmore led the team in rebounds with six while Samara Hill led the team in steals with one.
For the game, Handreck finished with 25 points, five rebounds and two assists. Meg Essex and Dunsmore led the team in rebounds with seven each. Essex also scored 17 points followed by Emily Perry who scored 13. The team shot 83.8% from the line and shot 32.8% from the field.
LAST MEETING WITH LENOIR-RHYNE
Earlier in the season, the team defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 75-69.
At halftime Newberry had a 29-27 lead over the Bears. As a team, the Wolves were shooting 75% from the free throw line compared to Lenoir-Rhyne’s 42.9%. Essex had eight points, five boards and one block. Shelby Britten also scored eight points followed by Handreck with seven.
For the game, Essex finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Handreck finished with 17 points and six assists followed by Creed with 13 points and five assists. The team shot 78.9% from the foul line and 46.6% from the field.
SCOUTING LENOIR-RHYNE
The Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne bounced back with a 59-52 victory over Carson-Newman on Saturday.
Lenoir-Rhyne senior center Shelly Harper and junior forward Brooke Robinson both tallied double-doubles to lead the Bears to the victory. Harper finished with 11 points and 17 rebounds while Robinson added 10 points and pulled down 12 boards as the Bears raced to an 18-2 advantage to start the game and never looked back.
Senior guard Jasmine Stafford led all scorers with 17 points as the Bears won their fifth straight home contest. Lenoir-Rhyne never trailed in the contest while holding a decisive edge on the boards – 51-36 – and connected on 26-of-35 free throw attempts. The two teams also split the season series
