NEWBERRY – The Newberry College baseball team hosts Brevard College, King University, and Young Harris College for the Newberry Round Robin this weekend. The games will be played from Friday, February 12 to Sunday, February 14.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE WOLVES
The team improved to 5-1-1 on Tuesday afternoon when they beat North Greenville 6-3.
JoJo Bradley (Spartanburg, S.C.) went 2-for-4 at the plate, scored two runs and drove in two. Derek Olenchuk (Irmo, S.C.) went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in one while Trejon Smith (Fredricksburg, Va.) went 2-for-4, scored one run and drove in one.
Robert Westenrieder (Taylors, S.C.) took the win for Newberry, giving up two hits and zero runs in 5.2 innings pitched. He also tallied five strikeouts on the mound, walking three. Westenrieder now has a 2-0 record for the year.
Mike DeLee (Dorchester, S.C.) pitched 1.1 innings on the bump, tallying three strikeouts and walking one. Charlie Fessler (Summerville, S.C.) logged 0.1 innings, giving up two hits and three runs while John Mason Reynolds (Taylors, S.C.) pitched 0.2 innings, tallying one strikeout.
Daniel Nations (Central, S.C.) earned the save for the Wolves after pitching 1.0 innings, tallying one strikeout.
SCOUTING BREVARD
The Tornados come into this weekend 4-0 after recently beating Montreat 7-2 on Thursday. Matthew Proffitt and Josh Hall scored two runs each while Kyle Morrison, Pat Quinn and Brayden Morris scored one run each. Quinn also drove three in while Hunter Donaldson drove in two.
This past weekend Brevard swept Emmanuel 4-0 and 15-9 on Saturday, February 6 and 10-6 on Sunday, February 7.
SCOUTING KING
The Tornados of King University come into this weekend 0-3 overall. The team dropped their twin bill (4-2 both games) against Augusta University on Saturday.
Trailing 4-0 in their last at bat in the first game, the Tornado scraped together a pair of runs, the first on a pinch-hit double from Mark Hencken that scored Anthony Hunt. Hencken later scored on an error, but the Tornados couldn't push any more runs across, falling 4-2.
In the second game, King came out and grabbed the lead in the bottom of the first inning behind a pair of RBI singles from Preston Douglas and Mark Michael after Keister led off the game with a single. Jim Wagner laced a one-out triple and Christopher Michals followed with a single to make the score 2-1 after two.
SCOUTING YOUNG HARRIS
Daniel McKee was named the Peach Belt Conference AstroTurf Baseball Freshman of the Week ending Feb. 7. McKee picked up a win and a save as the Mountain Lions took two of three from Rollins College. McKee got the start in the series finale, pitching 7.1 innings with two earned runs allowed in a 4-2 win. For the week, McKee had a 2.16 ERA.
The Mountain Lions took two from Rollins on Sunday, February 7. The team won the first game 9-8 and the second game 4-2. Luke Miller led the 12-hit attack for the Mountain Lions with three hits while Nick Sexton, Zach Odom, and Zach Wall collected two apiece. Michael Livingston (1-0) came into start for the Mountain Lions in the bottom of the third inning when the game was resumed and he scattered seven hits and seven strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings of relief.
