Box Score

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Newberry College Wolves (4-0) defeated the Queens University Royals (0-5) on the road by a final of 66-58 on Tuesday evening.

Meg Essex was the most efficient player on the floor on the night shooting 8-of-12, notching 18 points and 4 rebounds in just 23 minutes.

At least three Wolves starters were in double figures for the fourth straight game as Shelby Britten was the second leading scorer in the contest with 16 points. Nicola Handreck added 11 of her own and corralled eight boards in 34 minutes on the floor. Britten also dished out six assists in the eight-point win.

Newberry finished the game shooting over 50 percent from the field, which included an even 60 percent in the second half alone.

The Wolves also continued their hot shooting from the foul line, finishing the night hitting all five of their free throw attempts. Newberry connected on all 19 of its foul shots in a win vs. Armstrong State last week, extending their conversion streak to 24 in a row.

Newberry is off to its first 4-0 start since the beginning of the 2014-15 season in which they began the year with five straight wins.

The Wolves will host Claflin University in Eleazer Arena on Saturday, Nov. 26. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
