Box Score Charlotte, N.C. – Newberry (3-9-1, 1-6-1) fell to Queens (6-6, 3-5) on Saturday night by a final score of 5-0.
Alan Garcia Pena added the first Royals goal in the 5th minute, and Ryan Ejezie struck just six minutes later. It was the seventh goal of the season for Ejezie.
Corey Brown and Alberto Morales then scored and assisted each other in the 26th and 29th minutes, as Queens built a 4-0 lead going into halftime.
Brown added his second goal of the contest in the second half.
Newberry goalkeeper Brad Dixon recorded five saves in the contest. The sophomore still holds an impressive lead in the South Atlantic Conference for saves, stopping 90 shots on the year.
Sergio Lemus stopped three shots for the Royals en route to his first clean sheet of the season.
Newberry ripped off eight shots in the match, three of which were on frame. Claus Lehland led the team in shots with three. Daniel Reyes and Davis Bryan added two shots apiece.
Queens was very efficient on the night putting 10 of their 16 shots on net.
The Wolves will face another conference opponent in Brevard on Wednesday, Oct. 19. Kickoff will be at 5:00 p.m.
