Wolves play road game against Coker on Wednesday

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Newberry College women's basketball team travels to Hartsville to play Coker on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m.

LAST MEETING FOR THE WOLVES
- The team defeated Tusculum College 61-48 in SAC play, on Saturday afternoon.

-Going into the third quarter Newberry led 24-21 with Handreck leading the team with nine points. Essex scored six followed by Lepaio who scored four points. Dunsmore led the team in rebounds with six and Hill led the team in assists with five.

-For the game, Handreck finished with 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Essex scored 13 points and grabbed six boards. Dunsmore finished with 10 rebounds, four assists and four points.

 WOLVES & COBRAS LAST MEETING
In the 2014-15 season, the team defeated the Coker Cobras, 69-63.

-Samantha Creed posted her third straight game with at least 20 points as she finished with 22 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Forward Haylee Lepaio had 23 points, three blocks and five rebounds on the night. Nicola Handreck also added 11 points and two assists.

-In the game, Newberry exposed the Cobras on the low block and in passing lanes. They outscored Coker 26-6 in the paint and caused 25 turnovers. The Wolves also held an edge on the glass 40-27 and second chance points 12-6.

COBRAS NOTES
-
The Cobras dropped their last contest at home, 82-71 to Mars Hill last Saturday (Jan. 8). Jazz Green led the Coker attack, posting a double-double with a team-high 26 points and 11 rebounds. The senior also dished out five assists. Terrika Foster had an outstanding day, posting 26 points of her own, including a 5-6 effort from the charity stripe. Kendra Lambert added 13 points, putting three starters in double figures.

-Jazz Green now ranks second in the conference in points per game, dropping 16.1 points per game. Green also is third in the conference averaging 9.8 rebounds per game. Terrika Foster sits sixth in the SAC in field goal percentage, knocking down 54.3% of her shots.

The Wolves are back at home on Saturday, Jan. 16 against Brevard at 2 p.m.
