MISENHEIMER, N.C.- The Newberry men’s soccer team dropped to Pfeiffer University, 6-0, in their season opener against Pfeiffer University this afternoon.

Pfeiffer took an early lead in the first half with three goals in the first 15 minutes. At the 24 minute mark, the Falcons scored their final goal for the half. The Wolves had a chance in the 28th minute to lessen the score when Nico Vallejos took a shot on goal but the Falcon’s goalie saved it.

Going into the second half, Pfeiffer had a 4-0 lead. Pfeiffer kept the momentum with another goal just 1:45 into the second half.  Six minutes in, the Falcons put the ball in the back of the net for another goal for a 6-0 lead.

Gabe Ward made seven saves in goal for the Wolves.

Newberry travels to Belmont Abbey on Saturday, September 5 at 4 p.m.
