NEWBERRY - The Newberry Wolves volleyball looks to continue its hot streak this weekend, as the scarlet and gray open South Atlantic Conference play with a pair of home matches.
Newberry (4-1 overall, 0-0 SAC) wants to continue a great start in the early part of the season. The Wolves went 3-1 a week ago in the Newberry Invitational beating UNC Pembroke, Lees-McRae and Francis Marion. The Wolves lost their last match to Belmont Abbey 3-2 in a tough fought match. Newberry picked up its fourth win Tuesday, winning 3-1 at Converse.

NEWBERRY NOTES
- Freshman setter Maggie Marsh won AstroTurf/South Atlantic Conference Specialist of the Week as she tallied 158 assists and 8.78 assists per set to lead the Wolves to a 3-1 record to start the year.
- Logan Hayward leads the way for the Wolves offensively with 63 kills in the first five matches while freshman Mary Siebert has added 58 kills to help lead Newberry to a 4-1 start.
- Freshman libero Kensley Jordan helps the Wolves on defense by leading the team in digs with 93 alongside with freshman, Natalie Willis who has added 60 digs.
CATAWBA
- Catawba (2-3) won their last match again Pfeiffer by a score of 3-0.
- Junior hitter Alex Hopper has been named to Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference team as a second team selection.
- Catawba plays at Anderson tomorrow in a tri-match with the Trojans and Flagler.
QUEENS
- Queens (1-3) went 1-3 in its home tournament to start the season, losing its last game to King University 3-1. The Royals’ initial win of the year was a 3-1 victory over Montevallo.
- Elizabeth Bialkowski was named to the all-SAC Preseason Second Team.
