HILTON HEAD ISLAND – The Newberry College men’s tennis team fell 6-3 to the Edinboro Fighting Scots during their contest at Hilton Head Island.
In doubles competition Fernando Espana and Fernando Tous were defeated by Vitor Albanese and Brandon Romain 8-4 in the No. 1 matchup. The No. 2 matchup went the way of Bruno Borja and Daniel Galimany who defeated Carlos Nicolopulos and Richard Zeh 8-6.. In the No. 3 doubles matchup Juan Estepa and Anmol Sandhu earned a 9-7 win over Angel Pizzaro and Jordan Monosky.
Newberry received wins in singles competition at the No. 1 matchup as Espana defeated Borja 6-4, 7-5. A win in the No. 4 matchup as Monosky eased by Estepa 6-1, 6-1. Zeh earned a 6-2, 6-2 win against Galimany in the No. 5 contest
The Wolves dropped the No. 2 contest as Romain defeated Nicolopulous 6-1, 6-1. Matias Aignasse defeated Pizzaro in the No. 3 matchup 6-3, 7-5. In the No. 6 contest Marko Sekulic lost to Sandhu 6-4, 6-4.
The Wolves faceoff against Chowan on Tuesday afternoon at noon from Hilton Head Island.
