NEWBERRY - The Newberry College women's tennis fell 8-1 in South Atlantic Conference action to the Wingate Bulldogs inside the Cannon Courts at Newberry College.
In doubles the Wolves dropped all three contests 8-3 against their Bulldogs counterparts. Amanda Carrillo, paired with Vanessa Ortiz in the No. 1 group earned the lone singles point on the afternoon for Newberry.
Carrillo earned a 6-4, 6-4 straight set victory against Wingate's Oroma Womeodu at the No. 3 singles contest as she continued her streak from Speing Fest, where she lost one match of six appearances.
The No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches were finished in the first set at the eighth point due to Wingate clinching the match prior to the completion of those two singles contest.
Newberry returns to action on Thursday versus Anderson at 2 p.m. from the Cannon Courts in Newberry
