Newberry has had the edge on UNC Pembroke in dual action for most of the program's history, but the Braves defeated Newberry for the first time since 2005 in last year's matchup.

The Wolves have eight projected starters in the top eight of their weight class in the regional rankings, while UNCP has six such wrestlers. The last five weight classes are slated to feature regionally ranked grapplers from both schools.

PREVIOUS MATCHUPS THIS SEASON
At 149 lbs., Seiji Borja (North Charleston, S.C.) earned a 9-2 decision over UNCP's Hayden Fry in the first round of the Midwest Classic in December.

One of the most anticipated matches will be at 174 lbs., where Joe Pittman (Forsyth, Ga.) will face off against Terrence Zaleski. Zaleski is ranked first in the region and defeated Pittman 6-4 in the first sudden victory period in the semifinals of the Midwest Classic.

At 184 lbs., Jared Holliday (Burlington, N.J.) pinned Mikey Thomas in the third period of their match at the N.C. State Wolfpack Open, eliminating Thomas from the competition.

Newberry defeated Belmont Abbey 29-19, while UNCP was a 25-17 victor over the Crusaders. Newberry rolled to a 28-6 win over Coker, while Pembroke edged the Cobras 20-15.
