Wolves go to Coker, head home to face Tampa

NEWBERRY – The Newberry College women’s lacrosse team will play two games in two days this weekend as they also open up South Atlantic Conference play.

The Wolves had a midweek clash with Pfieffer called off due to inclement weather and haven’t played since last Friday as they lost to the Savannah College of Art and Design by a score of 18-4.

The Wolves had four different players record a goal in the game as Jessica Baxtrom (St. Leonard, Md.), Savannah Ohliger (Grantville, Ga.), Victoria Thomas (Manhattan, Kan.) and Megan Kenny (Mauldin, S.C.) all scored for Newberry in the loss.

Newberry goes to Coker on Saturday 1:00 p.m. for the first SAC tilt to play at Byerly Park. The Cobras are 1-1 on the year and have lost to Mount Olive and Lees-McRae. Coker lost to Mount Olive 18-4 on February 6 in a home game. They came back and flipped the script as they beat Lees-McRae 18-7 on February 14.

Then the Wolves will return from Hartsville, S.C. to play at Setzler Field at noon on Sunday as they host Tampa University.  The Spartans are 0-2 so far on the year with a loss at No. 18 Rollins 24-5. They then hosted Mollory and lost 14-13 on Feb. 15.

They play at No. 4 Limestone today at 5:30.
