Newberry is 10-1 all-time against the Trojans in the 10-year history of the program. The only loss came in the opening season of the Newberry program, and the scarlet and gray will push for a 10th straight season with a dual victory over AU (Newberry won twice in 2010-11).
The Wolves have eight projected starters in the top eight of their weight class in the regional rankings, while Anderson has three such wrestlers.
HONORING THE SENIORS
Newberry's three seniors will be honored at intermission of the dual. Seiji Borja (North Charleston, S.C.), Matt Colter (Jacksonville, N.C.) and Jared Holliday (Burlington, N.J.) will be recognized.
PREVIOUS MATCHUPS THIS SEASON
Despite competing in numerous like events throughout the season, no Newberry wrestlers have wrestled against Anderson opposition this season.
BOUTS TO WATCH
Two bouts in the dual feature regionally ranked wrestlers on both the green and red stripes to start.
At 133 lbs., Anderson' Zak Hale is ranked third in the region, while Newberry's Jordan Simpson (Oxford, Ala.) is ranked eighth. At 174 lbs., Anderson's Tre'vontay Rhodes is ranked second in the region, while Newberry's Joe Pittman (Forsyth, Ga.) is ranked sixth.
COMMON OPPONENTS
The Wolves and Trojans have wrestled nine common opponents in dual action this season. Newberry is 9-0 against those opponents, while Anderson is 6-3 with losses to Coker, Lindsey Wilson and UNC Pembroke.
