NEWBERRY - The No. 9 Newberry Wolves powered to a 28-9 win over NAIA No. 16 Cumberland (Tenn.) in the second session of the Ninth Annual South Carolina National Guard Newberry Duals.

Trung Duong got the Wolves off to the lead with an 11-4 win by decision at 125 lbs., but the Bulldogs earned a narrow 2-1 win at 133 lbs. to tie the dual at 3-all.

Austin Solari pushed the Wolves' lead to 9-3 with a pin at the 3:57 mark at 141 lbs. and Zack Dobbins was dominant in a 3-0 decision at 149 lbs. with nearly four minutes of riding time.

The Bulldogs cut the lead to 12-6 at the halfway point of the dual with a 2-1 decision in the first tiebreaker, but Lukas Gilmore was able to regain momentum for the scarlet and gray with a 6-2 decision at 165 lbs. to make it a 15-6 lead.

After a narrow defeat at 174 lbs., the Wolves closed out the dual with three straight wins. No. 2 Huston Evans took an 8-2 decision at 184 lbs., Cody Brundage rolled to a 14-0 major decision at 197 lbs. and Mike Kennedy put the wraps on the dual with a pin at the 1:09 mark.
