Anderson S.C. – Newberry College (8-13, 4-11 SAC) was swept tonight by Anderson (10-12, 8-8 SAC) in Anderson South Carolina by scores of 25-20, 25-16, 25-22.

GAME SUMMARY

The Wolves were led by Alexis Bryant as she tallied six kills on 13 attempts giving her a .462 hitting percentage. Logan Hayward added eight kills and 12 digs on the night. Rachel Moran notched 12 assists while teammate Maggie Marsh added a double-double with 10 assists and 10 digs.

FIRST SET

The Trojans jumped to an early 9-3 lead with a couple kills from Jessica Harris. The Wolves would start a comeback with a kill by Logan Hayward and Mary Siebert to pull within three. Anderson came back with another run of their own to stretch their lead to six with a 19-13 lead. The Trojans would keep their lead and win the first set 25-20.

SECOND SET

The second set started out close but the Trojans pulled away to take the early 10-4 lead. Anderson kept the pressure on with pushing their lead to seven with the score at 17-10. Newberry kept battling and would try to get back into the set but never could establish a run. Play went back and forth from there as the Trojans went on to win 25-16.  

THIRD SET

The Wolves opened up the third set with fire in their eyes, jumping out to an early 7-4 lead. Anderson would bounce right back and score six unanswered points to take control on the set with the score at 11-7. The Trojans held on to that lead for the rest of the set with only allowing Newberry to pull within one to make the score 21-20. The Trojans never looked back as they won the set 25-22 and took the match 3-0.
