Wolves travel to play a pair of South Atlantic Conference matches

NEWBERRY - The Newberry Wolves volleyball looks to continue its hot streak this weekend, as the scarlet and gray continue South Atlantic Conference (SAC) play with a pair of away matches.

 

Newberry (7-10 overall, 3-8 SAC) wants to get back on a roll as they travel to Catawba and Queens this weekend. The Wolves faced off against these team earlier in the year, losing to Catawba 3-1 and beating Queens 3-2. Catawba now 9-9 on the year will look to sweep the Wolves in the 2015 season. Newberry will look to sweep Queens who is 6-10 on the year.

WHEN: 7 p.m. on Friday, October 16.

RECORDS: Newberry is 7-10 after a 3-0 loss at University of Augusta on Tuesday. Catawba is 9-9 after a 3-0 win vs Brevard on Tuesday.

WHERE: Charlotte, N.C.

WHEN: 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 17.

RECORDS: Queens is 6-10 after 3-2 win against Francis Marion last Tuesday. Queens plays at Anderson on Friday.

NEWBERRY NOTES

- Freshman setter Maggie Marsh has a team high 511 assists while Rachel Moran is next on the team with 80 assists.

 - Logan Hayward leads the way for the Wolves offensively with 196 kills mid-way through the year while freshman Mary Siebert has added 134 kills to help lead the team down the stretch. 

- Freshman libero Kensley Jordan helps the Wolves on defense by leading the team in digs with 317 alongside with freshman, Natalie Willis who has added 159 digs.   

 

 

 

CATAWBA

 

- Catawba (9-9) won their last match against Brevard by a score of 3-0.

 

- Junior hitter Alex Hopper has been named to Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference team as a second team selection.

 

- Catawba plays vs Anderson tomorrow in Salisbury N.C.

 

QUEENS

 

- Queens won their last match against Francis Marion University by a score of 3-2.

- Elizabeth Bialkowski was named to the all-SAC Preseason Second Team.
