Box Score NEWBERRY – The Newberry College Wolves got back on track Friday night, taking a 3-1 decision from the Coker College Cobras. Set scores were 25-11, 25-18, 16-25 and 25-11.

Senior Elayni Stokes dug her way into the Newberry College volleyball record books, tallying a match high 26 digs, boosting her career total to 1,715.
Sophomore Logan Hayward recorded a match high 17 kills while hitting a blistering .357. Senior duo Holly Brisson and Jessica King both notched 13 kills apiece while blasting a scorching .500 for the match. Senior Lauren Prachar added 14 digs and four service aces, while freshman Bre Murphy totaled 11 digs of her own. Freshman Cydney Shaw handed out a match high 28 assists for the Wolves.
The Wolves blasted the Cobras in every category, recording 57 kills, 56 assists, six service aces, 71 digs, and seven team blocks while hitting .252 as a team.
Newberry hit came out of the gate smoking, hitting .556 as a team in the first frame with 16 kills and only one error. The Wolves got out to a comfortable 9-3 lead and never looked back. After a six point run by Newberry the score was extended to 19-7, before the Wolves wrapped up the set with a Brisson kill. King and Hayward recorded five kills apiece to lead Newberry.
The Wolves saw an early 10-3 lead turn on a dime to a 19-16 Newberry advantage. However, the Wolves were able to score six of the last eight points to take the frame 25-18. The Wolves would hit .204 in the set with Hayward leading the attack with six kills and Stokes picking up nine digs.
The third set was the only hiccup for the Wolves throughout the entire match. Newberry could not stop the bleeding after being down 17-12, the Cobras were able to slither away with the set 25-16. Brisson and Hayward would hit a combined .727 with eight errorless kills.
The Wolves came out hungry in the fourth set, attacking the Cobras and finding themselves with an enormous 12 point advantage. That would be more than enough as an attack error by Coker would cap off the night with the Wolves downing the Cobras 25-11 and taking the 3-1 win. It was all King in the final frame for the Wolves, picking up five of the 12 kills.
Newberry returns to action tomorrow as they host the 10th ranked Wingate Bulldogs in Eleazer Arena at 2 p.m.
