LAS VEGAS - Former Newberry College wrestlers Corey Anderson and Kelly Anundson have been selected for the cast of the 19th season of the popular TV series The Ultimate Fighter, as announced by FOX Sports on Tuesday.
The Ultimate Fighter 19: Team Edgar vs. Team Penn will debut on April 16 on FOX Sports 1 with a two-hour special following the TUF Nations Finale. All the action kicks off at 10 p.m. EDT that Wednesday.
Anundson will also be on the undercard for Bellator 115 on Tuesday, April 4, on SpikeTV.com. Anundson carries a 6-2 professional record into the light heavyweight feature fight against 10-0 Volkan Oezdemir. [Bellator 115 info] Anundson was a two-time All-American at Newberry and has won multiple medals at the World Grappling Championships.
Anderson had a 14-6 record in his one season at Newberry before completing his collegiate career in 2011-12 as the Division III national runner-up at heavyweight with a 46-5 record at Wisconsin-Whitewater.
The new cast of 32 fights will compete on the show for a chance to earn the six-figure contract ahead of the finale airing on July 6 just 24 hours after the end of UFC 175 in Las Vegas.
The fighters will be coming from all over the world and include a few notable names that fans will probably recognize before the show even starts.
