NEWBERRY - The Newberry Wolves were superior in all phases of the game Saturday as they took both ends of a non-conference weekend doubleheader from the Lincoln (Pa.) Lions at the Smith Road Complex.

Newberry is now 12-7 overall on the season with mid-week Spring Break games at Georgia College on Tuesday and Pfeiffer on Wednesday. The Wolves host Brevard in conference action next weekend. Lincoln falls to 0-6 on the year.

Game One: Newberry 4, Lincoln 0
Newberry starter Wesley Camp (Pelion, S.C.) picked up his sixth pitching victory of the season with a fantastic performance as the Wolves were never challenged in the opening contest of the day.

Camp went 6.0 innings and allowed two hits, no runs and no walks with nine strikeouts, moving his record on the year to 6-0 with a 0.68 ERA.

The Wolves managed only eight hits in the contest with Jermale Paige (Walterboro, S.C.) picking up two hits and two runs scored with a sacrifice fly and three steals. Ryan Cranmer (Newport, N.C.) also had a pair of hits in a quick game.

Game Two: Newberry 9, Lincoln 1
The Lions pushed their first run of the day across in the first inning before the Wolves wrapped up the sweep with nine unanswered runs.

Albert Baur (Philadelphia, Pa.) tied up the game with an RBI double and Eric Barbieri (Marlton, N.J.) followed that up with a sacrifice fly to give the Wolves the lead for good. An RBI groundout from Brandan Sheridan (Jacksonville, Fla.) was compounded by a Lions error to make it 4-1 after the first inning.

The pitching combination of Cole Cromer (North Augusta, S.C.), Daniel Nations (Central, S.C.) and Mike Delee (Dorchester, S.C.) shut the Lions down from there, allowing no runs on three hits in the final six innings. Cromer moved to 2-1 on the year and led a staff which didn't issue a walk all day.

The Wolves were limited on offense until the fifth inning when a Barbieri sacrifice fly, a two-run double from D.J. Martinez (Montpelier, Va.), a run-scoring wild pitch and a run-scoring single by Alex Kirby (Chapin, S.C.) put a five-spot on the board and provided the final margin.

Cranmer, Martinez and Kirby each had two hits in the game.
