Wolves pound Limestone 41-6 to earn program's 150th dual victory

NEWBERRY - Head coach Jason Valek and the No. 4 Newberry Wolves picked up the program's 150th all-time dual victory in just its ninth season of competition with a 41-6 pounding of the Limestone Saints.

Newberry (6-0) takes a sweep of the Seventh Annual Newberry Duals and will take a hot streak into next weekend's Midwest Classic in Indianapolis.

Jeff Vesta started the dual in typical fashion with a pin just over a minute into the 125 lbs. match, followed by Travis Laxton moving up a class to 133 lbs. and pinning his opponent in the second period.

B.J. Young fought through a togh bout to earn a decision at 141 lbs., which was followed up by a dominating 17-0 technical fall by Seiji Borja at 149 lbs.

Taylor Knapp needed only 34 seconds to pin his for at 157 lbs. and Kayne Melko had over four minutes of riding time by the end of his 9-0 major decision win at 165 lbs. Cody Brundage suffered a close loss by decision.

Jared Holliday cruised to a technical fall in the first period at 184 lbs. before Braden Carter dropped a decision at 197 lbs.

Matt Wade picked up his fourth bonus point win of the day with his third first period pin at heavyweight to close out the victory.
