The first set turned out to be a nail bitter, with the Wolves and Trojans battling down to the wire. There were 16 ties and nine lead changes in the set, with neither team leading by more than three points at any time in the set. The set was a dogfight tied at 22 until Anderson took the next three points unanswered to take the set 25-22. Horton led the Wolves hitting .600 with three errorless kills and Stokes had 7 digs.
The second set saw Newberry jump out to a 5-1 lead on a kill by Horton and the Wolves would fight tooth and nail to hold on to their lead. From a 19-all tie, the Wolves would score six of the last eight points to take the set 25-21. Newberry would outhit the Trojans .255 to .122. Horton hit a perfect 1.000 in the set with six kills and Stokes added six digs.
The third set was no different than the first two with the Trojans and Wolves going back and forth. This set would have 13 ties but only four lead changes with neither team ever leading by more than 3 points until the very end of the match. After a Newberry timeout with the Wolves down 22-19, Horton picked up a kill, but could not hold the momentum. Anderson would score the final three points of the match uncontested. Horton hit .500 with three kills in the set while Holly Brisson (Lumberton, N.C.) would tack on three kills and hit .429.
Defense was not lacking in the fourth set as both the Wolves and Trojans racked up 32 digs apiece. Newberry put up an incredible effort after getting down 15-9. The Trojans would extend their lead to eight with the score being 22-16. A kill by Soper would give the Wolves some life as they would cut the lead to 22-20 and force Anderson to call a timeout. Unfortunately the momentum would not stay with the Wolves as after the timeout the Trojans would score three unanswered points to take the set 25-20. Horton would hit .500 in the set with six kills and Stokes put up a phenomenal defensive effort with 11 digs.
