Newberry (10-8 overall, 5-7 South Atlantic Conference) will look to rebound on Saturday with a 2 p.m. home match against Coker College.

The first set was Newberry's best of the night as the Wolves hit .140 and led at 9-7 before a seven-point Wingate surge. The Wolves were only down by two points at 17-15, but the Bulldogs maintained their lead and earned the set win. Brisson, Soper and Alexus Horton (Austin, Texas) each had three kills in the set.
Early in the second set, Newberry kept the pressure on the nationally-ranked visitors, forcing WU to take a timeout with a 10-9 lead. That timeout gave the guests the momentum though, as the Bulldogs scored eight of the next nine points to take a commanding lead. The Wolves managed only two kills and a block on offensive points after Wingate's timeout.
In the third set, Wingate jumped out to a big lead, but the Wolves whittled it away down to just a 10-8 advantage. Newberry battled and was within striking distance as late as 18-14, but Wingate put down five straight points to leave Eleazer with a sweep.
