NEWBERRY, S.C. - Newberry sophomore Romina Adum (Guayaquil, Ecuador) won in dominating fashion at No. 3 singles as the Wolves topped the visiting Carson-Newman Lady Eagles 7-2 on the Cannon Tennis Courts.

Newberry (11-5, 2-0 SAC) opened the day with a pair of doubles victories coming at No. 1 and No. 2, before dropping a point at No. 3.

Adum won big in straight sets dropping only one game as her victory put the Wolves up 3-1. Newberry picked up a fourth point when sophomore Susana Aguirre (Guayaquil, Ecuador) picked up a victory in two sets at No. 2.

It was sophomore Ariel Strong (Cassatt, S.C.) who clinched a Newberry victory when she won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. The Wolves added two more singles points as freshman Emily Helsel (Port Orange, Fla.) won in three sets at No. 5 and sophomore Shannon McManus (Charleston, S.C.) took a straight sets victory at No. 6.

The Wolves travel to Belmont, N.C. tomorrow as the Newberry tennis team takes on Belmont Abbey.
