Wolves fall to No. 22 Sailfish 5-0 in Hilton Head finale

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - On Friday the Newberry women's tennis team was handed a 5-0 defeat by No. 22 Palm Beach Atlantic in what was the Wolves' final match of a spring break trip to the Shipyard Racquet Club in Hilton Head.

After being swept in doubles play, the Wolves dropped a pair of singles matches before the remainder of the matches were left unfinished. Newberry's No. 3 doubles team of senior Amanda Simmons (Saluda, S.C.) and freshman Emily Helsel (Port Orange, Fla.) posted the most favorable doubles score for Newberry falling 8-6 to Alexis Antista and Liddy Robinson.

In unfinished singles action, Helsel was on top of Maria Jimenez 3-1 before the match was abandoned.

Newberry returns home on Friday March 16, to play host to conference foe Tusculum at 2 p.m.
