Newberry loses 10-2 in last of three game set with Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne College Baseball Team (31-10, 11-6) defeated Newberry College (16-23, 9-9), 10-2, in a South Atlantic Conference game Sunday afternoon at Bears Field.

Lenoir-Rhyne broke a one-all tie with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and a Rob Mullins' three-run homer by the junior in the sixth inning to open the game for the Bears.

Bear freshman Chris Henderson  improved to 4-0 with the victory.

Sophomore Nick Martin  hit a solo home run for the Indians while freshman Thomas Berryhill fell to 0-5 during the 2007 campaign with the loss.

Senior Casey Faulkenberry had two hits in the game after entering the game in the seventh inning. Faulkenberry's RBI single in the top of the ninth was the only other run the Indians could muster.

Newberry next plays at Greenville Municipal Stadium in Greenville, S.C. as the Indians host USC-Aiken with first pitch at 6:30 p.m.
