NEWBERRY, S.C.- The Newberry College women's tennis team lost its first home conference match of 2006 this afternoon to Presbyterian College, 7-2.
With Presbyterian sweeping the doubles matches, Newberry's hope for an upset would have to rest on singles play. Sophomore Chanelle Clare won at the number four position against Kathryn Kleckley, 6-4, 6-2. Bethany Poppe also put up a team point in her number five singles match against Cassie Martin, 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.
Newberry will travel to Wingate, N.C. to for a match against Wingate University on Wednesday, March 29 at 2:30 p.m. Presbyterian will host Limestone College at the same time.
