Women's tennis beats Benedict College, 8-1

NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry College Lady Indians (3-3) overcame the power of the Benedict College Tigers, 8-1, this afternoon in women's tennis action.

The doubles pair of Chanelle Clare and Brittany Grooms shut out their opponents Precious Bryant and Chanel McRae, 8-0.  Playing number two, Lauren Hartley and Tanea Miller defeated their opposition 8-1.  At the one position, Isabel Kreidler and Bethany Poppe won against the sister pair of Lisa and Tracy LaCroix, 8-2.

In singles action, Hartley and Poppe overpowerd their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Grooms clutched a win over Precious Bryant 6-0, 6-1.

The Lady Indians will host No. 14 Georgia College and State Friday, February 17 at 2 p.m. Benedict will also be hosting a match against Claflin College Saturday, February 18 at 2 p.m.
