LEBANON, Tenn. – The 22nd-ranked Newberry College wrestling team got off to a good start to the 2006-07 season, defeating Cumberland University 31-7 on Friday evening.
All-American Quinn Tolbert got things rolling with a 9-4 victory over Jordan Powers. Kelly Anundson scored the only pinfall of the night, pinning Cumberland’s Ben Briscle.
The Indians move to 1-0 while Cumberland drops to 0-1. Newberry will face South Atlantic Conference rival Carson-Newman next Friday at Eleazer Arena. The match will begin at 6:00 pm.
