Newberry (4-7, 0-2 South Atlantic) hit a season average .136 on the match while Carson-Newman (6-6, 2-0 SAC) hit a tough .322 has Kari Gibson led the Eagles with 10 kills. Newberry did not record a block throughout the three-game match, their first such this season. Newberry has averaged 1.93 blocks per game through Friday�s contest. Meanwhile Carson-Newman recorded eight total team blocks on the night.
Carson-Newman only recorded five more kills on the match than Newberry as the Indians were never truly out of the match, constantly fighting back. In game two, a game in which Newberry hit .211, neither team had a lead of more than five � for Carson-Newman, the five point lead coming at the end of the game, as the middle session went back and forth several times.
Melissa Miller had eight kills for Carson-Newman, hitting .412 on the match. Jamie Foster-Mann contributed seven kills to the Indian effort, but hit -.045. Jessica Lipsi had six kills for Newberry while Kristin Pulone and Katie Stone each had four kills.
Newberry struggled serving throughout the match, recording only two service aces (Alicia Khoury in game one and Foster-Mann in game three) while recording eight service errors. The Eagles were the opposite, serving up eight aces and recording only five errors. Khoury led Newberry with 31 assists.
