GREENWOOD, S.C. � Jessica Lipsi posted another stellar day, recording 18 kills while Newberry put up a brick wall at the net, posting 11 team blocks as the Indians edged out Limestone in another five-game thriller at the Bearcat Blitz hosted by Lander University. Sophomore Cara Coleman reached a milestone in game one as she surpassed Layne Williams on the Newberry all-time block assist list to 11th and is now just four block assists shy of the top 10. Game scores were 30-27, 30-27, 21-30, 26-30 and 15-12.

�That was an exciting match,� said head coach Dr. Gylton Da Matta. �We started off well, winning some close games, but Limestone is a tough team and played extremely well in games three and four. Just like last night, our girls never gave up and seized every opportunity possible in game five.�

Newberry (2-1) was outhit .168 to .143 but did record more kills and dominated the net play, recording 11 total blocks to Limestone�s (0-3) six. Three Indians recorded double digit kills as Jamie Foster-Mann came alive for Newberry, adding 13 kills and Coleman notching 16.

The Indians lost some focus during game three as Limestone dominated, hitting near .300 and serving up six aces. Newberry refused to give up and fought back in a back and forth game four that featured 16 tie scores and nine lead changes.

For the third time in two days, the match came down to the pivotal game five, where the Indians never gave up. Newberry doubled up on Limestone�s kills in game five (12-6) as Lipsi brought home four kills and Katie Stone and Foster-Mann each added two.

Newberry faces the host Lander Bearcats in the final match of the Bearcat Blitz later today.
