CENTRAL, S.C. � Laurie Barman notched 12 kills and Jamie Foster-Mann had nine kills, six blocks and two assists as Newberry swept Southern Wesleyan 3-0 Saturday morning. The Indians doubled up the Warriors on blocks, 10-5 and ended a five match losing streak. Karey Kelley led Southern Wesleyan with 20 kills. Game scores were 30-26, 30-28 and 3-26.

Newberry hit .234 over the Warriors� .162 in a confidence booster match that helped pull the Indians out of a five-match losing streak. Prior to Saturday, Newberry last recorded a win on Oct. 19, a 3-1 decision at Augusta State. The Scarlet and Gray also broke their game one jinx by recording a first set victory for the first time since Oct. 8, a 3-0 win over Tusculum.

Foster-Mann sparked Newberry to a game one victory with four kills and two block assists. Kelley had four kills for SWU, as did Jessica Angeli but the Warriors only hit .111 in the game. Newberry hit .216 and had three total team blocks to the Warriors� one. Southern Wesleyan recorded 15 kills in the game to Newberry�s 14.

Laurie Barman came alive in game two, registering eight kills while Foster-Mann had one block solo and one block assist. Kelley led the Warriors with nine kills as SWU hit .163. Newberry dominated the game with a hitting percentage of .325 and registered four total blocks to the Warriors� one.

Newberry edged SWU in game three 30-26 to seal the match sweep. Kristin Pulone and Tonya Deese paced Newberry with three kills in the game while Kelley with seven kills. The Indians recorded all four service aces of the match in game three in a match where Newberry had four aces and 11 service errors. Two of the Indians� aces came from Cara Coleman in the game.

Newberry next plays Limestone in the second match of the day�s doubleheader.
