NEWBERRY, S.C. � Jessica Lipsi recorded 11 kills for Newberry (9-10, 4-4 South Atlantic), hitting .320 but the Indians fell 3-0 to Carson-Newman (11-8, 6-2 SAC) Friday night. C-N hit .306 on the match while the Indians only hit .128. Game scores were 23-30, 29-31 and 21-30.

Kelli Sorensen had 16 kills for the Eagles, leading the way for Carson-Newman, while Keri Gibson added 10. Gibson hit .417 in the match while Sorensen hit .429. Gibson also dished out 35 assists for the Eagles.

The highpoint for the Indians came in game two when Newberry rattled off six consecutive points to start off the game as Alicia Khoury served up four aces in the run. The game was close the entire way through as the teams battled back and forth between eight tie scores and four lead changes.

Newberry hosts Tusculum Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in Eleazer Arena. Carson-Newman travels to Clinton, S.C. to face Presbyterian College Saturday.
