AUGUSTA, Ga. - Laurie Barman set a career high in kills with 19, Jamie Foster-Mann tied a career high in kills with 17 as five Indians recorded double digit kills and two recorded double-doubles as Newberry slammed home a 3-1 win at Augusta State Wednesday night, avenging the 3-2 decision in the teams� first match of the year. Game scores were 32-34, 30-22, 30-21 and 30-25.

Including Barman and Foster-Mann, Cara Coleman (13), Tonya Deese (10) and Kristin Pulone (10) recorded double digit kills while Pulone (10 kills, 13 digs) and Barman (19 kills, 11 digs) notched double-doubles in the match for Newberry (11-11, 5-4 South Atlantic). Sara Lobstein led Augusta State (4-20, 1-5 Peach Belt) with 20 kills while Rachel Marcy added 11.

Augusta State squeaked out a 34-32 victory in an opening set that went back and forth between the two teams. Foster-Mann led the Indians in the game with five kills while Barman added four. Lobstein notched seven kills for the Jaguars. Augusta State�s serving dominated with the Jaguars serving up five aces and two errors while Newberry had three aces and four errors.

Newberry�s serving came alive in game two as the Indians rolled to a 30-22 victory. Well placed serves, including three aces and no service errors, helped propel Newberry to tie the match at one game apiece. Barman had five kills in the game while Foster-Mann and Deese added four. Lobstein notched another seven kills for Augusta State.

Newberry went on a 7-1 run to close out the 30-21 game three victory, capped off by a Foster-Mann kill. Foster-Mann had five kills for Newberry while Pulone and Coleman added four. Lobstein and Marcy led ASU with four kills apiece. The Indians hit .366 to ASU�s .093 in the game.

The Indians sealed the 3-1 match win with a 30-25 game four victory. Barman dominated in the game with seven kills while Coleman added six and Alicia Khoury gave the Indians 16 assists. Marcy and Emily Joye led ASU with five kills.

Newberry returns to conference action Friday with a 7 p.m. match at Mars Hill.
