Box Score FORT MILL, S.C. � Aided by four home runs, No. 7 Newberry won easily over sixth-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne, 14-5, Friday morning in the elimination bracket of the 2004 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Baseball Tournament on the campus of Winthrop University. Newberry improved to 22-31 and will play the loser of Carson-Newman and Catawba today at 4:30 p.m. at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, S.C., while the Bears finished the year 23-25.
Ryan Easterby (Charleston, S.C.) led the Indians� home run barrage with two round-trippers and finished the contest with three hits and a game-high four RBI.
Leading 3-1, the Indians broke the contest open with six runs in the top of fourth inning.
Although the Bears trimmed the margin to 9-5, Newberry responded with a pair of two-run home runs by Travis Moore (Blythewood, S.C.) and Easterby in the sixth frame to push the lead back to eight.
Newberry�s Anthony Dillenger (Gaffney, S.C.) added three hits and a pair of runs batted in and Stuart Kay (Greer, S.C.) tallied two hits and three RBI as well.
Sophomore John Pugh (Asheboro, N.C.) has a pair of RBI for the Bears.
Chris Griffin (Cayce, S.C.) pitched five scoreless innings of one-hit baseball to improve to 2-2 on the year. Lenoir-Rhyne�s Jeremy Krech (Rock Hill, S.C.) fell to 3-7 on the year with the defeat.
