Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. - Aiken's Mandy Gerolstein and Jenny Lloyd accounted for 19 points each off kills and blocks to send USC Aiken over Newberry College, 30-23 30-26 30-23, in Tuesday night's volleyball action at Eleazer Arena.
Newberry (7-14, 2-8 SAC) struggled with the height matchup and inconsistency throughout the night. USC Aiken (16-9, 3-4 PBC) outhit the Lady Indians .339 to .172 and capitalized on 32 total errors by the home team.
The Lady Pacers shot out of the gates and led the first game 10-5, then 20-8 after Newberry had exhausted both timeouts to stop the bleeding. Game two saw USCA take an early 6-1 advantage before the Lady Indians drew even at 15 all. Newberry pushed ahead 19-17, but an 8-1 Pacer tear put the game out of reach as the Indians would get no closer than three points, eventually falling 30-26.
The Lady Indians appeared revitalized in the final frame, jumping from a 9-11 deficit to a 17-14 lead. Following the Aiken timeout, the Lady Pacers rattled off seven consecutive points, then another five straight points, and were not seriously threatened the rest of the match.
