Cottrell joined the Newberry College staff in February of 2026.
He joins the Wolves after serving as offensive line and tight ends coach at Fort Valley State (Ga.) in 2025.
He previously served as an offensive line graduate assistant at Ball State (2024) and the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga (2022/23).
Paxton served on a UTCÂ staff that led the Mocs to the second round of the FCS playoffs in 2023.
He saw action in two games at Wofford before an injury forced him to retire and he began his coaching career as a student assistant.
Paxton received his undergraduate degree from Wofford in 2022.
He is a native of Aynor, S.C.
