Daniel Villalobos joined the Newberry College women’s soccer coaching staff following his playing career with the Wolves and currently serves as an Assistant Coach and Assistant Game Day Operations staff member.
As an assistant coach, Villalobos assists with the planning and execution of daily training sessions, opponent scouting, film breakdown, and overall player development. He works closely with the coaching staff in organizing training environments that support competitive success while emphasizing the academic and personal growth of student-athletes.
Villalobos began his collegiate coaching career as a Graduate Assistant with the Newberry College women’s soccer program following his graduation from Newberry College. During his time as a graduate assistant, he contributed to practice planning, match preparation, and video analysis while assisting in the day-to-day operations of the program. In his two seasons with the Wolves in this role, the team finished with overall records of 6-6-4 and 5-6-4.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Villalobos gained international coaching experience with Ciex Sport Academy in Panama, where he assisted with the U14 and U16 teams during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. His work focused on technical development, tactical understanding, and mentoring young players within a competitive academy environment.
Prior to his coaching career, Villalobos was a four-year member of the Newberry College men’s soccer team, playing as an outside back and central defensive midfielder. Over his career, he logged more than 1,500 minutes, started 16 matches out of 26 Played, and recorded one goal and four assists. His experience as a versatile defender helped shape his coaching philosophy centered on tactical awareness, and team organization.
Villalobos earned his bachelor’s degree from Newberry College before completing his master’s degree while serving as a graduate assistant with the women’s soccer program.
