Charles Sterner returned to Newberry College in the winter of 2024 after working at Wofford College.
Sterner had previously worked at Newberry College for three years.Â

During his first stint at Newberry, he worked with women’s basketball, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s golf and cheerleading. He was the head athletic trainer at Gaston Day School from 2019 to 2021.
While at Wofford he worked with the women’s basketball, rifle and cheerleading teams.

A 2017 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in athletic training, he added a masters in athletic training from West Chester University in 2019. While at West Chester, Sterner was a graduate assistant at Chestnut Hill College, working with cross country, women’s lacrosse and track and field. He was also a training camp intern with the Baltimore Ravens during the summer of 2016.

Sterner is a certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
