Kylie Shay enters her first year as the Assistant Softball Coach here at Newberry.

“I want to thank Coach Smith for giving me an opportunity to represent Newberry College. I am excited for the future of the program and cannot wait to see all the great things the program will accomplish. Go wolves!” says Kylie.
 
Prior to Newberry
Kylie comes to Newberry after serving as the Assistant Softball Coach at Paris Junior College from 2020-2023. As a Dragon, Shay helped turn the softball program around starting in 2021 where they had the most wins in a season in five years, along with becoming nationally ranked for the first time in school history in 2022. Last season, the Dragons had the most conference wins in school history with an 18-6 record.

While at Paris Junior College, Shay coached the Dragons to 97 wins in three seasons. Shay coached 15 all-conference players, eight all-region, and the pitcher and player of the year in the 2023 season.

Playing Years at Western Carolina University 2019-2020
In 2019 Shay threw five shutout innings against Oregon State for the Catamounts. In 2020, Shay became the first batter to hit at Clemson Stadium History and ended her season leading the team in batting average with a .275.

Playing Years at Howard College
In 2017 Shay was named Conference Pitcher of the week and WJCAC All-Conference Pitcher. During her 2018 season, she received WJCAC MVP award and WJCAC All-Conference Pitcher. Shay also was named Region V West All-Region Pitcher and NFCA 2nd Team West Region Utility. For the two seasons she played at Howard College Shay achieved Overall Pitching Record of 31-3, six shutouts, and 176 strikeouts for the Hawks.
