Stephens joined the Newberry Track and Field Staff in 2022 and primarily works with sprints on the team. In her first season, Stephens oversaw Sarah Abumere become the first Newberry athlete to podium twice at a single SAC Championships as Abumere placed 3rd in both the 60m and 200m. In the spring, Abumere would join Emma Johnson, Jada Johnson, and Charlette Johnson to become the first relay team in program history to win an event title as they took the gold in the 4x100m relay at the SAC Outdoor Championships. Stephens also coached Elijah Fulmore to a third place finish in the 110m hurdles at SAC Outdoors. Both Abumere and Fulmore were named to the USTFCCCA All-Region team for the indoor season.Â
Stephens comes to Newberry from Abbeville High School.
