Tinashe Dzemwa joins Newberry College Field Hockey as an Assistant Coach with an impressive background in both playing and coaching field hockey. At 23 years old and hailing from Zimbabwe, Tinashe holds a BSc Computer Science Honors Degree and is a Certified Level 2 Field Hockey Coach.
On the field, Tinashe's playing experience is nothing short of remarkable. He represented Zimbabwe at the Junior U21 level in 2020-2021 and proudly donned the national colors as part of the Zimbabwe National Men's Team from 2021 to 2023. At Midlands State University, Tinashe was not only a key player but also served as the team captain from 2020 to 2022, helping secure two Gold medals at the Varsity Cup during his tenure. Additionally, Tinashe was the Captain of Sagittus Men's Hockey Club in 2022.
Tinashe's coaching prowess is equally impressive. As the Head Coach of the Arundel U16A team from 2022 to 2023, he achieved an outstanding record of 10 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss, with a 100% win rate in tournaments. In 2023, he led the Harare Province U16A team to a tournament championship. Tinashe also served as an Assistant Coach for the Zimbabwe Boys U18A team during their tour to Namibia. In the same year, he guided the Arundel First Team to the finals at the Annual Golden Girls Tournament. Tinashe's coaching experience extends to the Sagittus Ladies 1st Team, where he achieved 2nd place in the Women's 7-aside League and the Harare Women's Top Division League.
In addition to his passion for field hockey, Tinashe is actively pursuing a career in Software Engineering. He is currently enrolled full time in the school's Master of Science in Organizational Development and Leadership program, demonstrating his commitment to personal and professional growth.
