Jenna Eyre

Jenna Eyre is in her third year as the head coach of the Newberry College Scarlet Poms Dance Team. Coach Eyre has 23 years of dance experience and is the first ever head coach of the Newberry College dance team.

After two seasons as the Poms head coach, Eyre has led the Scarlet Poms to a combined four national titles. At the end of the 2014-15 season, the team received a 6th place NDA national ranking in Division II.

A native of Castle Rock, Colorado, Eyre previously coached the dance team at the United States Air Force Academy while serving as a community relations and game day entertainment intern in 2012.

Prior to coaching at USAFA, Eyre was a four-year member of the Colorado State University poms/dance team, serving as the team captain her senior year. During her time as a member of the CSU poms, Eyre competed at the UDA Collegiate National Championship consistently placing in the top 15 teams in the country in Division IA.

Eyre also danced professionally as a two-year member of the Denver Outlaws Dancers, the professional dance team of Major League Lacrosse’s Denver Outlaws. Eyre served as the team captain her second season.

In high school, Eyre won the Colorado all-class State title in the jazz division in 2006, before earning a fourth place finish nationally at the UDA National Championship. She was selected as a 2007 UDA All-American and holds multiple UDA outstanding dancer awards.

Eyre is currently a regional judge for Dance Machine Productions as well as a judge and board member of the Dance Advisory Panel for the American National Championships. She annually holds several camps and clinics as well as master classes across the country and works with many dance studios and high school dance teams across the state of South Carolina. Eyre is certified through AACCA.

In addition to coaching, Eyre has extensive community service experience, serving as her high school, college and professional dance teams’ community service liaison. The Newberry dance team annually works many local community service projects and is a Varsity supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Eyre graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Journalism and Technical Communication, a Public Relations concentration and a minor in History.
