NEWBERRY, S.C. – Newberry Women's Soccer opened the 2026 season with a hard-fought 1–1 draw on Saturday afternoon against Converse College. The match featured tightly contested play throughout, with both teams finding the net in the second half.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Wolves broke through in the 56th minute when Ellie King scored her first goal of the season. King capitalized on a well-timed setup from Brooke Price, who delivered the assist that sprung Newberry into a 1–0 lead.

Newberry generated nine total shots, including five on target, while holding Converse to seven attempts. Wolves goalkeeper play remained steady with two saves, helping preserve the draw. Fouls remained balanced between the sides.

With the result, Newberry moves to 0-0-1 on the season and will look to build on the strong second-half performance as they continue non-conference play. Catch the Wolves in action next Wednesday at 5:00 P.M. for their home opener against Erskine.
