Wolves Fall to No.21 Wingate, 0-4

NEWBERRY, SC - The Newberry Wolves men's tennis team fell 4-0 in a conference matchup at home on Wednesday morning against No.21 Wingate.

Newberry was unable to gain momentum early, dropping the doubles point after losses at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Daniel Watson and Lucas Mruk were defeated 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, while the duo of Senthen Reddy and Sohei Kamiyama fell 6-3 at No. 2. The No. 3 pairing of Martin Posada Garcia and Noel Bartz saw their match go unfinished.

In singles play, the Wolves battled but could not find a breakthrough, as three matches were decided in straight sets to clinch the match. Senthen Reddy fell at No. 2 singles, while Martin Posada Garcia dropped his match at No. 3. Sohei Kamiyama also came up short at the No. 4 position.

Daniel Watson put together a competitive showing at No. 1 singles, staying within reach before his match went unfinished. Noel Bartz also saw his match at No. 5 singles halted before completion.

Despite the result, Newberry showed fight throughout the lineup, with multiple matches remaining in progress at the time of decision.

The Wolves will look to regroup as they continue conference play on March 21st against Lenoir Rhyne in Hickory, NC.
