Wolves Drop Doubleheader at Georgia College

MILLEDGEVILLE, GA — The Newberry softball team fell in both games of a non-conference doubleheader against Georgia College Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Softball Complex. The Wolves were held scoreless in the opener before dropping the second game despite a three-run effort at the plate.

Game 1: Georgia College 3, Newberry 0

Newberry was limited offensively in the first game, managing two hits in a 3–0 loss to Georgia College. Brooke Hodges and Katie Henri recorded the Wolves' two hits, while Graceann Thompkins reached base with a walk from the leadoff spot.

In the circle, Natalie Wescott worked four innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out one. Katie Kapusta came in for two innings of relief allowing one more run on two hits, also with a solo strikeout.

Game 2: Georgia College 7, Newberry 3

The Wolves responded offensively in the second game but ultimately fell 7–3 to complete the doubleheader sweep for Georgia College. Newberry jumped on the board early with a run in the first inning before adding two more runs in the fifth. 

Brooke Hodges drove in a pair while Samantha Clark sent in a lone run in the first, while Emma Bailey, Avery Ingram, and Christine Butler contributed hits during the contest.

The Wolves will face off against Belmont Abbey at home on Thursday with a 1pm start to the doubleheader contest.
