2025 Wolves Women's & Men's Cross Country Preview

Scott Hutchinson, the head coach of Newberry College, has a clear and strategic vision for the upcoming 2025 season. He isn't just focused on winning; he's focused on growth, development, and maximizing potential.

As he looks ahead to the new season, he sees the potential for his team to surprise competitors and make a significant impact.

With a team full of new faces and the right attitude, Hutchinson is ready to take on the challenges of the 2025 schedule and compete in the highly competitive SAC race.

A focus on growth and development
---------------------------------

Hutchinson understands the importance of growth and improvement in a young team. His expectations for the 2025 season revolve around getting better day by day and meet by meet.

With a strong emphasis on finishing the season on a high note, he hopes to be the team that surprises others.

"Being a young team with a number of new faces, I expect us to grow and get better day-to-day and meet-to-meet. We put an emphasis on how we finish the season, and we would like to be that team that surprises some people," Hutchinson shared.

A team with the right attitude
------------------------------

One of the strengths of Hutchinson's team lies in the attitude and work ethic of the runners.

With a mix of new faces and returning upperclassmen, the team has been working hard to change the culture and attitude of the program. Hutchinson is confident that with the right attitude and hard work, the team will continue to grow and improve.

"We have a lot of new people with the right attitude," he said. "We've been working hard to change the culture and attitude of our programs. I like the new people that came in, and with some of our upperclassmen that have returned, have good attitudes, and are also working hard, I'm confident we will grow and get better."

The impact of new faces
-----------------------

Hutchinson is particularly excited about the impact of the newcomers on the team.

On the women's side, athletes like Olivia Hare, Cristina Calidonio, Anna Johnson, Gaby Darazi, and Lex Howle are expected to make a significant impact.

On the men's side, newcomers Jordan Kent, Camden Longdon, and Franesco Alagna have the potential to contribute to the team's success.

Hutchinson believes that these new faces, combined with the right attitude and work ethic, will help the team continue to grow and improve throughout the season.

Embracing challenges
--------------------

The 2025 schedule presents its own set of challenges, but Hutchinson is confident that his team can rise to the occasion. He believes that the team can be competitive in all races and is excited to see them compete against some of the best teams in the region and nation.

"The SAC is loaded. Many teams are regionally and nationally ranked," Hutchinson said. "That's what we hope to become in time. I like our 2025 schedule and feel we can be competitive in all the races."
