MARS HILL, NC – The Newberry College women's soccer team remained unbeaten and secured its fourth consecutive clean sheet, defeating Mars Hill 1-0 on the road Sunday afternoon at Meares Stadium.
The Wolves wasted no time getting on the board, as True Arellano-Homan scored in just the second minute of play off an assist from Haylee Patino. That early goal held up as the match-winner, marking Arellano-Homan's first goal of the season.
Goalkeeper Madison Gutierrez needed just one save to preserve the shutout, thanks to a steady back line. Newberry outshot the Lions 8-5, putting five attempts on frame and earning three corner kicks.
With the win, Newberry improves to 3-0-1 overall and 1-0 in SAC play, extending its shutout streak to 360 minutes to begin the season. The Wolves will face off against Southern Wesleyan at home in their next match on Wednesday at 4:30pm.
