Newberry Offense Powers Past Coker for Doubleheader Sweep

HARTSVILLE, SC – The Newberry Wolves continued their offensive tear on Tuesday, sweeping Coker in a dominant doubleheader performance. With 11-3 and 15-10 victories, Newberry has now scored double-digit runs in four straight games. Big plays from every part of the game helped the Wolves extend their winning streak and gain momentum in SAC play.


Game One: Newberry 11, Coker 3 (6 Innings)

 

Newberry's offense erupted in the later innings, powering the Wolves to an 11-3 victory over Coker in the opening game of the doubleheader. After two early runs, Newberry exploded for five runs in the fifth inning and followed with four more in the sixth to secure the dominant win?.

 

Peyton Little led the charge, going 2-for-4 with five RBIs, while Maddy Staples added a two-run homer as part of a four-RBI performance. Ella Stone was another spark at the plate, collecting three hits and scoring three runs.

 

In the circle, Lindsey Foster delivered a strong outing, earning the win while tossing a complete game and allowing just three runs on seven hits with one strikeout?.

 

Game Two: Newberry 15, Coker 10

 

Newberry completed the doubleheader sweep in a dominant fashion, going off for 15 runs on 14 hits in a 15-10 victory over Coker. The Wolves' offense was relentless, scoring in six of the seven innings, including a six-run seventh to put the game away?.

 

Christine Butler was everywhere for the Wolves, going 2-for-3 with four runs scored and two walks, while Haidyn Campbel and Katie Henri added two hits and two RBIs. Peyton Little delivered again with a big two-run homer, and Bethany Pigg drove in four runs with a strong day on both sides of the ball.

 

On the mound, Samantha Minick picked up the win with 1.2 innings of work, escaping a bases-loaded jam to preserve the lead. Lindsey Foster closed the game with 2.2 innings of relief, allowing just three runs while striking out two.

 

The Wolves will keep the momentum going for a weekend doubleheader vs. Limestone at the Smith Road Complex on Saturday. Game one will begin at 1pm with the second following at 3pm.
