DAYTONA BEACH, FL -- Newberry put up a fight but came away empty-handed on the opening day of the Embry-Riddle Tournament, falling 6-2 to Embry-Riddle in Game 1 and 6-3 to Florida Tech in Game 2. Taylor Palfrey led the Wolves offensively in game one with two hits on the day, while Ella Stone and Samantha Clark each went perfect batting in game two. Despite late pushes in both games, Newberry couldn't overcome early deficits and now looks to bounce back on Day 2.

Game One vs. Embry-Riddle (6-2 Final)
Lex Glemaker went the distance, tossing 6.0 innings with six strikeouts, allowing two earned runs on 10 hits.
The Wolves plated one run in the sixth and another in the seventh, but Embry-Riddle's early lead held firm.
Palfrey recorded two hits, leading Newberry at the plate.
Maddy Staples drove in Newberry's second run with a seventh-inning RBI double, sparking a late rally attempt.

Game Two vs. Florida Tech (6-3 Final)
The Wolves scored two runs in the sixth, cutting the deficit but falling short in the final frame.
Stone drove in a run with a key RBI single in the sixth.
Haidyn Campbell had a productive game at the plate, going 2-3 with a run scored.
Clark had a perfect day batting going 2-2 with a walk.

The Wolves will compete in day two of the Embry Riddle Tournament tomorrow, February 8th, when they face Auburn University Montgomery at 11am and Florida Tech once more at 4pm.
