Wolves Split Georgia College Under the Friday Night Lights

NEWBERRY, SC – In a thrilling doubleheader on Valentines Day 2025, the Newberry College Wolves softball team faced off against Georgia College at the Smith Road Complex. The Wolves secured a hard-fought 8-6 victory in the first game but fell 12-3 in the second.

 

Game 1: Newberry 8, Georgia College 6

 

Newberry tied the game up with a three-run first inning, highlighted by a leadoff double from Haidyn Campbell, and a two RBI double from Leah Evans, who later scored on an error.

 

Pitcher Lindsey Foster earned her third win, only allowing one hit through 1.2 innings, putting her at 3-3 overall on the year.

 

In the top of the fifth, Taylor Palfrey made a spectacular diving catch to end the inning with two runners in scoring position.

 

Newberry put up three decisive runs in the sixth, securing the lead and ultimately the victory.

 

The Wolves played error-free defense, turning key outs to seal the win.

 

Game 2: Georgia College 12, Newberry 3 (5 Innings)

 

The Bobcats jumped ahead quickly, scoring four runs in the second inning.

 

Some nice play from Bethany Pigg, Ella Stone, and Brooke Hodges lessened the gap for the Wolves in a 2-run bottom frame, 4-2.

 

In the fourth inning the Wolves put another run on the board from a double to right center by Campbell.

 

The Bobcats scored a game changing seven runs in the top of the fifth, ultimately giving them the win via run rule.

 

The Wolves will face Flagler College next in a double header tomorrow at 1pm and 3pm at Smith Rd. Complex.
